
Master of Dental Surgery (M.D.S.) Prosthodontics and Maxillofacial Prosthetics is a full-time 3-year postgraduate dental course that deals with the reconstruction, rehabilitation and replacement of missing teeth, oral structures, and maxillofacial defects. This programme includes traditional prosthodontics implantology digital smile designed (DSD) maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation and skill in advanced restorative dentistry. The programme is designed to train students to treat advanced clinical cases with emerging technologies including but not limited to CAD/CAM dentistry, digital dentures, 3D printers, facial prostheses and implant-supported prosthesis.

Maxillofacial Prosthetics, an ultra-specialised sub-discipline of prosthodontics, focuses on rehabilitation of patients with defects (either traumatic, congenital or oncological) to structures in the face such as the eye, ears, nose and mainly jaws. The prosthodontists are responsible for restoring patients' appearance, function and confidence by creating artificial ears, eyes, nose or speech prosthesis and digital facial prostheses. This MDS course offers students comprehensive clinical and laboratory skills in removable prosthodontics, fixed prosthodontics, dental implantology, occlusion science, full mouth rehabilitation, TMJ management, smile design esthetic dentistry and maxillofacial implantology. Emphasis is placed on research methodology, material science, prosthodontic developments and the practical management of cases. After graduation, graduates may work as an implant specialist, maxillofacial prosthodontist, restorative consultant, researcher in academic institutions or clinical practice.
