NEET MDS 2021 will have questions from different sections of the syllabus. It will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and the test is conducted online (CBT). NEET 2021 MDS exam will comprise 240 questions. A National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS) 2021 is a single-window entrance exam to shortlist the best candidates for Masters of Dental Surgery. The examination date has been declared and will be conducted on January 20, 2021. The last date to fill the application form is last week of October 2020 (Tentative). Qualifying this examination will grant the student's admission to more than 6,000 MDS seats offered by deemed/central universities and Employees' State Insurance Corporation Medical College.

NEET MDS 2021 Notification

The National Board of Examination (NBE) has released the official notification for NEET MDS 2021 examination. The registration for NEET MDS 2021 examination can be done after 5 PM on 26th October, 2020. The examination date has been set for 16th December 2020, which will be in computer-based mode. The candidates who qualify the examination will be eligible for the counselling process for NEET MDS admission. The students will be eligible for seats under 50% All India Quota (AIQ), 50% state quota, seats offered by deemed/central universities and ESIC.

Eligibility Criteria

Application fees for NEET MDS 2021

The students who are applying for the examination have to pay an application fee based on the category they belong to. The students need to pay the exam fee through the payment gateway provided using a Credit or Debit Card issued by banks of India or through Internet Banking. 

The students who want to attempt NEET MDS 2021 need to meet the eligibility criteria. Therefore, the students need to go through the eligibility criteria before applying for the PG Dental examination in 2021.

The basic criteria for students who want to take admission in MDS courses as per MDS Course Regulation 2017 are as follows:

  • The candidate should possess a recognised Bachelor degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) from a university or institute registered with the State Dental Council.

  • The candidate needs to obtain a permanent registration after undergoing a rotatory internship of a year in an approved/ recognised dental college.

  • The candidate has to complete the rotatory internship/practical training programme by March 31, 2021, or before taking the examination.

  • In case the candidate is going to complete the internship/ practical training by March 31, 2021, he/she has to produce a certificate from the head of the institution that he/she will complete the internship by the given date.

  • Students who passed their BDS degree from the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir will not be eligible for 50% All India Quota Seats.

  • Only candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (under central pool seats) to do BDS from Dental Colleges in Jammu and Kashmir will be eligible to apply for admission. In such cases, the student has to submit an affidavit declaring the same and post it to the following address with an acknowledgement of submission of online application for NEET MDS 2021 by November 30, 2020.

*Note: The restriction on candidates from Jammu and Kashmir will not be applicable for candidates who are applying through the category of Armed Forces for Grant of Short Service Commission in the Army Dental Corps and for MDS admission in Armed Forces Institutes. Eligibility criteria for Foreign National applying for NEET MDS 2021

  • Foreign National without DCI registration can write NEET-MDS.

  • Later, if selected, the council may grant temporary registration for the duration of postgraduate training. This registration will be restricted to the dental college/institution and exclusively for the time of post-graduate studies.

  • The candidate has to complete their 12 months compulsory rotatory residential internship on or before March 31, 2021, and submit the certificate of completion of internship at the time of counselling.

  • The candidate can only submit their application once for the admission of NEET MDS 2021 in an academic year. Multiple applications will be rejected and the candidate will not be allowed to appear for the examination.

* Note: The temporary registration will be subject to the condition that such candidates are duly registered medical practitioner in his/her own country from where he/she has obtained his/her basic dental qualification. The candidate needs to have a dental degree recognized by the state dental council or concerned authority.

Candidate, if found ineligible at any stage by the examination authority, will be disqualified from giving the examination. The results of such candidates will be cancelled. 

A candidate can register and appear for NEET MDS 2020 only once in an academic year, and the scores will be valid for only that year.

NEET MDS 2021 Registration

The registration process for NEET MDS 2021 examination has already started from the second week of October 2020. The candidates can register for the examination now. The last date for NEET MDS 2021 online registration is the last week of October 2020.

The registration process is given below:

Step 1: The candidates need to visit the official NBE Website for NEET MDS 2021 examination. 

Step 2: Click on the button for "New Registration".

Step 3: Fill all the personal details given in the screenshot below.

Step 5: Give a valid email id and type the text shown in the text box. 

Step 6: Create a strong password as the candidate will have to log in to their application form to make further editing. 

Step 7: The candidate will not be able to make any corrections in the following data:

  1. Name of the Candidate 

  2. Mobile No. 

  3. Email address 

  4. Testing City 

  5. Date of Birth 

  6. Gender 

  7. Nationality

Step 8: Upload all necessary educational certificates, category certificate necessary. 

Step 9: Upload your current passport size photograph, signature and left-hand thumb impression. 

Step 10: Choose your preferred exam city. 

Step 11: Pay the application fee through an online payment option given on the website. 

Step 12: Take a print out of the confirmation page for future use.  Note: A candidate can only choose from the cities which have seats available for examination. 

NEET MDS 2021 Syllabus

The candidates who are applying for NEET MDS 2021 examination will have to follow the standard syllabus of BDS. The students have to prepare the topics that were taught during the BDS course as prescribed in the DCI Revised BDS Course Regulation, 2007.

The paper will be divided into two parts and the topics have been listed below:

NEET MDS 2021 Question Paper Pattern 

NEET MDS 2021 question paper will be divided into two parts. Part A will consist of 100 questions and Part B will consist of 140 questions

Each question will be of 4 marks each. Therefore total marks for NEET MDS 2021 paper will be 960

  • Part A:100 questions

  • Part B: 140 questions

The total time to attempt the whole question paper will be 3 hours. The students will be shown a 15-minutes video on the system showing how to attempt the test before it starts.  There will be a negative marking of 1 mark on every wrong answer and no marks will be given for unattempted questions. As there is negative marking, the students should attempt a maximum number of questions with absolute surety.  

Important Books for NEET MDS 2021 Exam:

The students have to study the BDS syllabus for NEET MDS 2021 examination and NBE does not recommend any books or guides for preparation. However, there are few books that are recommended by the toppers online that students can follow during the preparation of NEET MDS 2021 examination.

NEET MDS 2021 Preparation tips (Mock test)

The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) MDS is a national level exam, attended by around 19,000 students per year so it is tough. Therefore, students need to make a proper plan to prepare for the exam. Here are some tips to prepare for NEET MDS 2021 exam:

Prepare exam strategy:  After properly analyzing the exam pattern and syllabus make a plan to prepare for it. Always try to make a strategy in short-term sets or goals. 

Do Proper revision: After preparing for each set always do a revision which will help candidates to remember concepts. Revise each section separately to avoid confusion.

NEET MDS 2021 Admit Card

NEET MDS 2021 aspirants can download the admit card from December 2020. Admit cards will only be issued to the eligible candidates once the testing centres have been allotted to the candidate. Candidates can download the admit card from the official website till the exam day.  Candidates can download the admit card from the NBE website after successfully registering for the exam. NBE will also send an acknowledge Email, SMS and public notice.

Steps to download the Admit card:

  1. After successful registration, aspirants will be taken to the admit card download link
  2. Download the admit card in PDF format
  3. Read the acknowledgment Email or SMS carefully
  4. After receiving the admit card, the candidate has to verify all the details
  5. Take the printout and attach a recent photograph in the section mentioned

The photograph should be in this specific format:

  1. Size of the Photograph should be less than 35x45 mm

  2. The full face and head of the candidate should be visible in the photograph

  3. At the bottom of the photo name of the candidate and the date of capturing photograph should be there

  4. Full front view of the face should be visible with a normal expression

  5. The background of the photograph should be white or should be light in colour

  6. The photograph should be in good resolution with no shadows or red eyes 

  7. The photo should not have any scratches or stains

NEET MDS 2021 Test Cities

At the time of the submission of the application form, the candidate needs to select the city for the exam. Candidate can select a city from the available option and allotment for exam city centre will be done on a first come first serve basis. At the time of applying, candidates can only select those cities where seats are available. 

Candidates can only select the preferred city but the allotment of the exam city shall be done by NBE. Also, NBE puts efforts to allot the testing city in the State of the correspondence address of the aspirant. If in any case, the testing seat is not available for any other reason, then the testing city shall be allotted in the nearby state. NBE informs such students about their testing cities in advance.

*Note: Exact venue of the exam centre shall be informed to the candidate before 7 days of the examination. 

NEET MDS 2021 Exam Day

NEET MDS 2021 exam will be conducted on 16th December 2020. The candidates need to carry the following things and follow the schedule as mentioned below:

  1. Printout of admit card with candidate photograph pasted on it

  2. Anyone of the approved photo IDs from the following:

    1. PAN Card

    2. Passport

    3. Aadhaar Card (with the photograph) 

    4. Driving License

    5. Voters' ID Card

(must be original, valid and non-expired)

  1. Report to the exam centre at least 2 hours before 

  2. Late entry will not be permitted in any circumstances

  3. Do not carry any electronic gadgets such as:

    1. Mobile Phone

    2. Bluetooth

    3. Earphones

    4. Microphone

    5. Pager

    6. Wristwatch/Health Band

    7. Calculator

    8. Electronic Pen/Scanner etc. 

  1. Identity checks will be done, to ensure the authorized candidate appears for the test

  2. Do not carry ornaments, jewellery and food items to the exam centre

NEET MDS 2021 Marking scheme (Cut-off)

NEET MDS 2021 will have questions from different sections of the syllabus. It will consist of multiple-choice questions(MCQs) and the test is conducted online. (CBT).   NEET 2021 MDS exam will comprise of 240 questions and the medium of the exam paper will be English. The marks for each question will be allocated as follows:

NEET MDS 2021 Cutoff

NBE has fixed the cutoff for NEET MDS exam in such a manner so the number of eligible

candidates in each category shall be a minimum of three times the number of seats available. The Qualifying percentile for each category is different, find the details below:

NEET MDS 2021 Answer Key 

The organizing body of NEET (NBE) will not issue the official answer key this year as the exam will be conducted in online mode. Also, aspirants are not allowed to disclose any information related to the exam as per the Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) of NBE. An unofficial answer key will be issued of pen paper-based exams.

NEET MDS 2021 Result 2021

NEET MDS 2021 Result will be declared on January 20, 2021 on the official website (NBE). The result can be downloaded from the official website after the declaration. NBE is responsible for conducting the exam, announcing results and handle it to State Counseling Authorities. A separate merit list will be declared by different institutions and higher authorities. 

Note: The NEET-MDS 2021 result will be validated for this session only and cannot be carried forward for the next year's admission. 

NEET MDS 2021 Counseling

After the declaration of the result, higher authorities will send the merit list to Dental colleges. Selected candidates will be called for counselling sessions. Candidates are notified to be active on NBE, MCC and State Counselling Authorities website bulletin for more updates about counseling. 

List of necessary documents for Counselling are:

  • Class 10 Certificate

  • Identity proof

  • Date of Birth certificate

  • BDS mark sheet (1st, 2nd and 3rd Professional Examination)

  • BDS Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate

Note: As discussed above NBE is not responsible for counselling and allotment of seats. Counselling and allotment of seats will be done by the higher state authorities.
