MCh Urology Course Details
Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) Urology is a super-speciality degree that focuses on the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. It is an elite 3-year PG course for MS General Surgery degree holders in India who wish to practice as specialists in Urology. Super speciality training is given in surgical urology, endourology, laparoscopy, renal transplantation, male infertility, reconstructive urology, pediatric urology and uro-oncology.
The MCh Urology course enables specialists to learn and practise the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of the urinary system. They also study and diagnose complex disorders of the female and male urinary system, as well as the male reproductive system. The requirement for urologists in India - particularly in Bengaluru - remains high as cases of kidney stones, prostate diseases, urinary tract infections, cancers of the genitourinary tract, and male infertility keep increasing.
The course is recognized by the National Medical Commission, and admissions are conducted through the NEET-SS entrance exam only. As many as a few seats are provided, all over India, for this programme, which is one of the most competitive medical super-speciality courses, in which only a handful of doctors are taken into each medical institution every year.
