MBBS
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or MBBS, as it’s known in short, is the common 5.5-years graduate medical programme. The course duration includes sky castle and one year of rotating internship. The 4.5-year classroom setting is divided into three phases of 18 months each and these are further divided into three semesters of six months each. After the completion of the classroom studies, you’ll have to undergo one-year of rotating internship at the attached hospital.
In order to be eligible for an MBBS admission, one must have passed 12th standard or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with 50% marks for general category students and 40% for reserved category students. Students must have completed 17 years on or before December 31 of the year of admission.
After completing your 12th standard, you’ll have to attempt the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), the only entrance test for admission to medical colleges in Bangalore. The test is very competitive as lakhs of students appear for the few thousand MBBS seats.
MD/MS
