Diploma in Child Health

The Diploma in Child Health (DCH) is a 2-year postgraduate diploma course which is designed to enable doctors to develop an interest in child health and to acquire skills appropriate for general practice, or to train as a paediatric specialist. It is intended for MBBS graduates who are interested in specialized training in pediatric medicine but do not wish to pursue the more extended MD Pediatrics programme. This diploma further enables future pediatric consultants to develop sound clinical acumen regarding common paediatric health problems, emergencies and growth & development abnormalities, infections, genetics, neonatal care and preventive child health care.

The DCH programme integrates theory and extensive clinical practice. Students rotate through Pediatric OPDs, NICUs, PICUs, immunization clinics, child emergency wards, pediatric surgery units and community health centers. Diagnosis and treatment of childhood infections, allergies/asthma, growth deceleration, congenital disorders, nutritional deficiencies, metabolic diseases neurological and chronic pediatric problems.
