FAQs

All admissions to Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) are based on results and marks obtained in the national level NEET entrance test. The higher the rank, the better your chances of getting a seat at a medical college of your choice. An important point to note is NEET is for all medical and dental colleges approved by MCI and DCI and not for AIIMS and JIPMER, which were set up by acts of the Indian parliament. With over 25 years of experience in counselling and helping students with admissions, BangaloreStudy is your one-stop solution for medical admissions.

Yes, you can practise medicine abroad after getting a medical degree from KIMS or for that matter any medical college in India, however, that comes with a caveat. You will have to clear the host country’s medical practise exam to be eligible for a trade license. That holds true for India as well as the country doesn’t allow anyone with a degree from a non-MCI recognised medical college to practise medicine until they have been approved by the MCI or the local administration.

Karnataka government has ruled that every student that studies in the state-owned medical college or in a private medical college under state quota will have to serve at a rural healthcare facility for one year. Some states in India have this rule in place and some don’t.

Yes, you can join a master's course or PG right after doing MBBS and specialise in one of the many specialisations available at the college. However, you will have to clear NEET-PG before that.

No. Kempegowda Institute of Medical Science doesn’t offer any free courses.

Yes, you can research at their state-of-the-art laboratories and in-house multispeciality hospital.
