The BA Journalism and Mass Communication course is suitable for students who are inquisitive, creative, socially conscious, and have a passion to narrate stories. It trains students to work in newsrooms, TV channels, OTT platforms, advertising agencies, PR firms, social media companies, and corporate communication departments. The programme emphasizes strong writing, critical and analytical thinking, media literacy, and ethical journalism. Students are trained on researching and writing a news story, conducting an interview, producing documentaries, managing digital platforms and crisis communication. The major feature of this course is its practicality. Students gain hands-on experience in studio work, internships, field assignments, live reporting, creating content projects, media labs, and industry visits. This is in addition to guest lectures provided by senior journalists, editors, film-makers and digital media specialists which many colleges offer. The programme is a three-year, full-time undergraduate degree (six semesters). It provides the fundamental ground work followed by thematic specialization in year two and concentrates on advanced reporting, digital communication and professional practice in year three.
