After a remarkable journey of 75 years, Mount Carmel College, Bangalore, has decided to allow boys to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate courses that are currently offered by the college from the academic year 2024-25.
The college had opened its gates to male students only for certain postgraduate courses back in 2016. Now, the management of this prestigious institution has decided to offer admissions for all the UG and PG courses to male students as well.
When asked about the reason for this change, Dr. George Lekha, Principal of MCC, commented that this decision was taken by the management as the institution wishes to attain university status next year and that the council wants to move past being a women’s college. She added that the move is progressive and comes at an appropriate time, since the college has completed 75 years of its establishment.
