GATE 2027 Exam Registrations Commenced

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras commenced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 registrations on September 2, 2026. Students who are eligible can register by visiting the official website of the GATE exam once the GOAPS portal opens on the rescheduled date. As per the official notification, the registrations have been postponed from its initial August 27, 2026 date to the new date on September 2, 2026. 

The GATE entrance examination is a national-level examination conducted for postgraduate and doctorate course admissions in engineering, technology, science and other streams. It is held for admissions at premier IITs and IISc institutions as well as at deemed universities across India. Students who hold a 3 to 5 year Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, science, arts, commerce or architecture are eligible to appear on the examination.

• For 2 papers, the fees payable is twice that of a single paper.

How to Register for GATE 2027

Step 1: Visit the official website for GATE.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the ‘Apply Now’ button.

Step 3: Go through the instructions and click on ‘Proceed to GATE 2027 Registration’.

Step 4: Under ‘Indian Citizens’, select ‘Continue with DigiLocker’.

Step 5: Use your mobile number to sign in to receive the OTP.

Step 6: Use the OTP to sign in and provide your consent to share your documents for registration.

Step 7: Fill the declaration and click on ‘Start Filling GATE 2027 Application Form’.

Step 8: Enter all the required details on the form, upload your documents and verify the form

Step 9: Read the declaration, enter your e-signature and click on ‘Submit and Proceed to Payment’ to pay the application fees. 

Step 10: Download the application form and print it out of future reference.
