Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangalore is an undergraduate medical curriculum in basic medical knowledge, clinical practice, and patient care. The curriculum consists of 4.5 years of coursework, followed by one year of mandatory residency/internship. During the coursework, students engage in pre-clinical subjects in the 1st professional year with Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry. They proceed to learn para-clinical topics in the 2nd and 3rd professional years such as Forensic Medicine, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology and Community Medicine. Ultimately, from the 3rd professional year, students cover clinical subjects such as General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. On completing coursework, they take up mandatory internship for a year via clinical postings at hospitals partnered with KIMS Bangalore.
