Bengaluru North University (BNU) was established in 2017 by the Government of Karnataka through the State University Amendment Act of 2015. It is a state university located in Tamaka, on NH 75 in Kolar, Karnataka, India. BNU was inaugurated on September 21st, 2017. It was a result of the trifurcation of Bangalore University (BU) in 2015. Bengaluru North University and Bengaluru Central University were a result of this trifurcation. Bangalore North University has 210 affiliated colleges in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Hoskote, Devanahalli, and Doddaballapur districts.
It is also the affiliating body for colleges in areas such as CV Raman Nagar, KR Puram, Mahadevapura, Pulikeshi Nagar and many more, which come under Bangalore Urban District. BNU envisions to be a national and globally recognized Institution by offering quality teaching, excellence in Research, Innovation and Dissemination of knowledge for the development of human society. Bengaluru North University, since its inception, has been operating in the current campus at Tamaka on the outskirts of the Kolar District. A permanent campus will be soon established at Amaravathi Village in Chikkaballapur District, Bengaluru Rural, Karnataka.
Library:
The Bengaluru North University Campus Library was set up in 2017. It has books belonging to the streams of Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Botany, Commerce, Arts, etc. The library has emerged as a knowledge resource centre catering to the students, faculties, and research candidates with necessary information. It aims to support the educational and research programs of the university by providing both print and online information.
Laboratory:
The university in total has 3 laboratories - Computer, Botany, and Physics Lab supporting the candidates through their education. The computer lab at the university is equipped with internet facilities, scanners and printers for the student’s convenience.
