Through the recent Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations (PGMER) 2023, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has made it mandatory, for both central and state counselling authorities, to conduct all rounds of counselling for postgraduate medical seats in the country through online mode only. Hence, no medical college/ institution is allowed to admit a candidate independently.
PGMER 2023 has also briefed about the provision of common counselling for PG Medical admissions in institutions across India based on the merit list of respective entrance exams. The common counselling will have multiple rounds as required.
In a move to bring about transparency in fees, the NMC has directed medical colleges to mention the amount of fees for each course while entering details for the seat matrix, failing which the seat will not be counted.
