Siddaganga Institute of Technology

Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur is popularly known as SIT established in the year 1963, is one among 125 institutions run by Sree Siddaganga Education Society, founded and nurtured by Dr. Sree Sree Sivakumara Swamiji, a centenarian. The institution provides free food, shelter and education to over 9000 children drawn from the poor sections of the society without discrimination on the basis of caste, creed or community at Sree Siddaganga Gurukula. The institute is a beneficiary of the World Bank assisted Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme Phase - I, Phase - II and Centre of Excellence. To empower the youth to become entrepreneurs, the Department of IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka selected SIT for establishment of New Age Incubation Centre from 2014. The Ministry of MSME, Government of India has recognised the institute as a Business Incubator.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology imparts quality education through effective teaching processes that produce competent engineers and managers with high professional ethics, to create a congenial environment. It provides state-of-the-art infrastructure and continually improves the effectiveness of the Quality Management System. All the departments in the institute have well-equipped laboratories. The institute has over 2470 computers and are located in 42 Computer Centres which are all networked with fibre optic backbone. Round the clock internet facility is provided to all the Computer Laboratories, Faculty Chambers, Hostels and Classrooms.
