Christ (Deemed-to-be University), formerly called Christ University (CU), was established as Christ College in 1969.
The institute was born out of the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara (educationist and social reformer).
Christ made its humble beginning as Christ College with 4-programs, 379 candidates, 28 teaching, and non-teaching staff. Christ University began offering multiple postgraduate programs starting from 1990.

Christ is a deemed to be University located in Bangalore, Karnataka. Founded in 1969, the UGC of India conferred Autonomy to Christ College in 2004 and identified CU as an institute with potential for excellence in 2006.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India declared the institute as Deemed to be a University in 2008 under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 and later renamed it as Christ University.
CU has been one of the first institutes in India to be accredited in 1998 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Subsequently, in the year 2004 and 2016, Christ Deemed to be University was graded the top grade ‘A’ in the 4-point scale.
Being one of the topmost multi-disciplinary universities in India, Christ Deemed to be a University focuses on various teaching and research aspects and offers education ranging from Bachelors to Doctoral programs.
More than 21,000 students pursue Humanities, Social Science, Science, Commerce, Management, Engineering, Education, Law, and many more programs at the University.

The candidates who have scored a minimum score in MAT/ CAT/ CMAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ GRE/ ATMA and the actual score thereof shall have no bearing in the selection process.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D):
Eligibility:
The Ph.D. aspiring candidate must have completed a Postgraduate Engineering/ Technology or equivalent degree curriculum from an appropriate discipline or specialization with at least a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade. Students who have completed their post-graduation from an international university must submit an equivalency certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Christ University Entrance Exams (CUET):
What is CUET?
Christ Deemed to be University Bangalore conducts the Christ University Entrance Test (CUET). CUET is a National Level Entrance examination conducted to offer admissions to multiple UG and PG programs.
The university conducts the entrance examination for admission to B.Tech, BBA, BA LLB, LLM, B.Com, BA CEP, BHM, and many other programs. The CUET exam is likely to be conducted by the university between April and May.
CUET Eligibility Criteria:
The applying candidates must have passed +2 or 12std or equivalent course (Karnataka PUC/ ISC/ CBSE/ NIOS/ IGCSE/ IB) in any stream from any recognized board in India or abroad.
Christ University Admission Procedure:
The aspiring candidates seeking admission to the programs offered by Christ University can apply through offline and online mode.
The application form for multiple UG and PG programs are available online. The selection process for the Christ University admission consists of passing CUET, Skill Assessment Test, Micro Presentation, and Personal Interview.
- For most of the Christ University courses offered by the institute, the University conducts CUET.
- The admission for most of the programs offered by the institute is based on the merit scored in the qualifying examinations, CUET, skill assessment, and personal interview.

Objective:
The Christ University’s scholarship office was set up to recognize students with an excellent meritorious record in Academics and Co-Curricular activities utilizing awards and scholarships while pursuing the course at the university.
The institute’s scholarship office will also support the deserving students who may have to opt-out of pursuing higher education due to economic reasons.

Scholarship and Fee Concession Fund:
The University allocates a total amount of about Rs. 4,50,000 lakhs for the fee concessions and annual scholarships.
Scholarships:
The Merit Scholarship has been initiated for meritorious students based on their academic performance at the pre-entry level and subsequent performance in multiple tests and examinations.
The candidates will be awarded a merit scholarship in September every year. The scholarship will be offered based on the merit of the pre-entry marks, mid-semester test, and attendance in regular classes.
The consecutive years’ scholarships will be awarded based on the candidate’s performance in one end semester and two mid-semester examinations each year.
Scholarships will consist of a percentage refund of Christ University fees. Every combination will be considered for 2 merit scholarships. The combinations with more than one section will be regarded as proportionately.
Scholarship for Financial Assistance:
- The applying candidates choosing to avail the scholarship must apply to the office of awards and scholarships with the necessary supporting documents.
- The economically weaker section, especially from the rural areas, is eligible to apply.
- The candidates must have enough documents of eligibility enclosing a community/ official income certificate
- The applications produced will be inspected, and a final interview with or without parents or guardians by the scholarship committee will be conducted. The committee will decide the eligibility for the scholarship
- The scholarship seeking candidates at the time of admission are expected to fill-up a separate application for the available scholarships along with their course application form and submit it to the institute
- The committee will later interview them on the allotted dates and will decide the payment of their fees.
- The percentage of concession for different recommended categories are as follows:
- Self-Finance Course – 0% to 50%
- Others – 0% to 90%
- A bond has to be signed by the students saying that the scholarship amount will be refunded to the university if he or she leaves between the academic year
