The Supreme Court has rejected a plea by the CBSE compartment and improvement exam students seeking postponement of NEET-UG 2021. The exam is scheduled to be held on September 12th, 2021 (Sunday).
As per the petition, the medical entrance exam will be held at a time when a few papers of the CBSE exam are being held.
The Supreme Court bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar asked the candidates to approach the medical exam authority, National Testing Agency (NTA), through a competent authority to consider the representation.
The Court also told the students that the competent authority must put forward its point before the NTA. It asked the students not to use the Court platform to put pressure on the authority.
The Court said that it could not postpone the examination, ignoring the hard work of the 16 lakhs candidates and preparations of the Central Government.
Sumanth Nookala, the Advocate who filed the plea, said that a definite segment of the students would be affected. The plea also stated that the CBSE improvement exam students appearing for NEET would be ineligible as they have not passed the board exam yet.
Students also pointed out that the exam schedule makes it impossible for a candidate to qualify since the entrance exam will be held in the middle of the CBSE compartment and improvement exams.
