The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) announced the guidelines for online classes and recommended a cap on the screen time for school students.

The guidelines, named as 'PRAGYATA', were framed following concerns raised about the increased screen time for children due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools have shifted from classroom teaching to online learning entirely during this lockdown.

PRAGYATA guidelines have been issued from the perspective of learning at school blended with online education. They recommend that the duration for online classes should have a maximum limit of 30 minutes for pre-primary school students. The guidelines also recommend a maximum number of two sessions of 30-45 minutes each for classes 1 to 8, and not more than four sessions for classes 9 to 12.

Universities and schools across the nation have been shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak. While the government has eased many restrictions, the campuses continue to remain closed.
