Registered candidates can select their preferred medical colleges and arrange them in the order of priority. 4

Choice Locking

After finalizing the list of preferred colleges, candidates must lock their choices before the specified deadline. Once the choices are locked, they cannot be edited for that counselling round. If candidates do not manually lock their choices, MCC may automatically lock the last saved preferences after the choice locking window closes.

Note: MCC may release a provisional seat allotment result before publishing the final allotment list whenever required.

Karnataka MBBS Counselling 2026 Process

Conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts the Karnataka MBBS Counselling for admission to medical colleges across the state. Candidates must qualify NEET UG 2026 and complete the KEA counselling registration to participate in the admission process. KEA conducts counselling for admission to Government Quota, Private Quota, Management Quota, and NRI Quota MBBS seats offered by Government and Private Medical Colleges in Karnataka.

To participate in the counselling process, candidates must register through the official KEA counselling portal, complete document verification, and fulfil all prescribed admission requirements within the notified schedule.

The Karnataka MBBS Counselling process is expected to be conducted in the following rounds:
1
Round 1
2
Round 2
3
Round 3
SV
Stray Vacancy Round
Note: The Mop Up Round is conducted to fill MBBS seats that remain vacant after Round 2. If vacancies still exist after the Mop Up Round, KEA may conduct one or more Stray Vacancy Rounds in accordance with the counselling schedule, seat availability, and prevailing admission guidelines.

KEA NEET UG MBBS Counselling 2026 Stages

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts the Karnataka MBBS Counselling through a structured admission process. Candidates are required to complete each stage within the prescribed timeline to remain eligible for seat allotment.

1

Online Registration

The counselling process begins with online registration through the official KEA portal. Registration is considered successful only after the application is submitted and the prescribed counselling fee is paid.

    During registration, candidates must:
  • Complete the online application form
  • Enter personal, academic and NEET UG details
  • Upload required documents, wherever applicable
  • Pay the counselling fee within the notified deadline
2

Document Verification

After registration, candidates must complete the document verification process according to the schedule announced by KEA. During this stage, the authority verifies the candidate's eligibility, reservation claims, and supporting documents. Candidates who successfully complete verification become eligible to participate in the subsequent stages of counselling.

3

Option Entry

Verified candidates can proceed with option entry, where they select and prioritize their preferred medical colleges. The order in which options are entered plays a significant role in the seat allotment process.

    During this stage, candidates can:
  • Select their preferred MBBS colleges
  • Arrange colleges in order of preference
  • Add, modify, or delete options until the option entry window closes.
4

Mock Seat Allotment

Before publishing the final allotment, KEA generally releases a mock seat allotment based on the options entered by candidates.

    The mock allotment helps candidates:
  • Estimate their probable seat allotment.
  • Evaluate their admission prospects.
  • Revise and optimize their college preferences before the final allotment.

The mock allotment is only indicative and does not guarantee the final seat allotment.

5

Final Seat Allotment

After the option entry period concludes, KEA publishes the final seat allotment results. Candidates can access and download their allotment letter through the official KEA portal.

Seat allotment is determined based on:
  • NEET UG 2026 rank
  • Candidate Category
  • Reservation Policy
  • Availability of Seats
  • Order of College Preferences
6

Admission Confirmation

Candidates who are allotted an MBBS seat must complete all admission formalities within the prescribed reporting period. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of the allotted seat as per KEA guidelines.

    The admission process generally includes:
  • Exercising the appropriate admission option notified by KEA.
  • Payment of the prescribed admission fees.
  • Reporting to the allotted medical college.
  • Submission of original documents and completion of admission formalities.
Note: KEA follows a merit based seat allotment process that considers NEET UG rank, reservation policies, category wise seat availability, and the candidate's order of preferences. The complete allotment methodology is published in the official UGNEET Information Bulletin for the respective admission year.
