CAT exam is conducted for the students seeking admissions in B.Des and M.Des programs. It's a paper-pencil based exam, and the time allotted for this exam is 3 hours.

NIFT Admission Process:
B.Des aspirants, who have cleared the cut-offs, have to appear for the Situation Test, the final NIFT Admission process for this course.
Situation Test is a creative ability and material handling test conducted to test a candidate's situation handling during a given project.
For other courses, NIFT conducts a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) for M.Des, MFM, and M.F.Tech aspirants who have cleared the cut-offs.
B.F.Tech aspirants can seek admission based on their GAT scores.

- The final admission process for B.Des is the Situation Test. For M.Des, MFM and M.F.Tech, aspirants have to go through a GD/ PI process. For B.F.Tech, the GAT score serves as the final basis for admission.
- Duration of the CAT exam is 3 hours.
- NIFT 2022 exam dates will be held on February 6, 2022.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates have to meet the following NIFT eligibility criteria:
For B.Des:
- The age of candidates should not be more than 23 years (relaxation of 5 years for reserved categories).
- Candidates should have completed Class 12th from a recognized institute.
- Candidates with a 3-4 year Diploma, recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, can also apply.
For B.F.Tech:
- Candidates must complete their 10+2 from a recognized educational board with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects.
- Those with a 3-4 year Diploma in Engineering, recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education, can also apply.
For M.Des, MFM, and M.F.Tech:
- Candidates should have completed their graduation in the relevant field from a recognized university.
- They should have attained the minimum required marks to seek admission.
