The JSSISH Mysuru was established in the year 2001-02 to meet the increasing demand for qualified professionals in the field of speech and hearing. This institute is affiliated to the University of Mysore and is recognised by the Rehabilitation Council of India, Govt. of India.
The Institute offers graduate (B.ASLP) and postgraduate (M.ASLP) courses in Speech and Hearing. These professional courses are designed to train speech and hearing professionals. At JSSISH Mysuru, speech and hearing professionals are trained to habilitate persons with speech and hearing problems of age groups (from infants to the very old).
JSSISH Mysuru hosts numerous facilities and opportunities to shape up students to become dedicated professionals. The institute provides spacious classrooms equipped with over-head projectors for active learning utilizing multimedia.

The ‘Library and Information Centre’ of JSS Speech and Hearing Institute was established to cater to the academic requirements and quenching the knowledge thirst of faculty and students. Students are under the care of assigned mentors and receive professional counseling when necessary. The staff of the institute are friendly and always available for interaction. Additionally, the institute has created facilities for and encourages students to engage in sports and cultural activities.

Bachelor in Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP)
Master in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (MASLP)
These courses help individuals cope with limitations and are very rewarding and job opportunities in this field are rising. Speech and hearing limitations are no longer ignored, resulting in high need for speech therapists. One can work in a hospital, school, social welfare department or NGOs. Salaries vary and working abroad is a strong possibility too.
Hostel accommodation is provided only for women. The hostel is homely, well managed and provides nutritious and hygienic food to the students.
The speech science and hearing science labs are established to train the students in the knowledge about hearing, speech, language and the various instruments and advanced softwares used to analyze and treat various communication disorders. The library is equipped with resource management software “EASYLIB'' and houses a vast collection of textbooks in the field of speech and hearing.
