The majority of the top medical colleges in India were established back in the 20th century and are recognized by the central and the state governments. Lately, around the 1980s, some of the private institutions were starting to emerge in some states, particularly in Karnataka. The state of Andra Pradesh is also responsible for establishing several private medical institutions in the new era.
All the top medical colleges in India are of high standards as they all use comprehensive technology in educating the students. India is one of the top countries where it produces thousands of graduates every year. Students here get an opportunity to not only work in India but also with other countries.
Top Medical College quality is regulated by the central regulatory authority that is the Medical Council of India. The Medical Council of India probes the institutes and recognizes them for specific courses from time to time.
The basic medical qualification obtained in various top medical colleges in India is a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Medical courses in India are for 4 years, 6 months, and one year of Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship (CRRI). After the completion of the MBBS course and the internship, the candidates can register with the Medical Council of India (MCI) and start practising medicine.

A qualification in super or sub-specialty is called as DM or M.Ch depending upon the degree. Medical Courses in India are offered under different specializations such as Medical and Biomedical Science, Allied Health, Pharmacy, Nursing, Fitness, and Health.
Any course involving medicine and health sciences requires students to learn and obey the 'Hippocratic Oath' for moral conduct. Hippocratic Oath states that "I swear to fulfil, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant: I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow" that is serving patient care, teaching, and research.
Students holding a degree in Medical and Health Science can obtain career opportunities in various hospitals and private clinics in the health care sector. Medical science graduates can also work with research centres, laboratories, and pharmaceutical industries. Entry to medical institutions in India is based on the entrance exams.
Some of the top Medical colleges in India conduct their entrance test at the national level to attract candidates from all over the country. The majority of medical colleges in India are mainly located in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, etc. Whereas, other states also have an average of 8-10 or more colleges.
