How to Become a Teacher in India?

Teachers not only teach us about subjects and related concepts but also about life.

They nurture and look after students, like a gardener who waters and looks after blooming buds in his garden. Both want maximum growth for their pupils.

What Are The Qualities of a Good Teacher?

School is like a second home to a child; hence, teachers are responsible for giving them the proper educational knowledge and life lessons in general.

Here are a few qualities of a good teacher:

  • Communication & Listening Skills: Teachers should communicate and teach in an impactful, constructive, and organized manner. They should listen to their pupil's doubts and thoughts to understand them and their true potential.

  • Committed to Teaching: Teachers should be committed to teaching and invested in their student's learning process. This gives them confidence and makes them more committed to their growth.

  • Engaging Students in Learning: Teachers should instill the eagerness to learn among students. They should do it by presenting a lesson or a topic in an intriguing manner to keep them engaged.

  • Patience: Not every student has the same level of understanding. Few students need to be taken care of with excessive patience and care.

  • Attitude: A friendly and respectful attitude is the key. A teacher should build a free space for students to express their thoughts while maintaining a line of respect that should not be trespassed.

  • Boosts Morale: A good teacher is also a mentor. They support and motivate students based on their potential and help them grow with higher morale and become self-motivated.

A good teacher shapes young minds by educating, encouraging, and inspiring them to pursue the best.

What Are The Responsibilities of a Good Teacher?

Teaching is one of the most challenging and inspiring professions. A teacher has the vital responsibility of training the new generation to be better people and participate in the nation-building process.

Here are a few essential responsibilities of a teacher:

  • Curriculum: Teaching should be according to the natural curriculum regulations. They should balance delivering bookish knowledge along with practical information to their students.

  • Preparation: Teachers should prepare easy and beneficial notes, and the delivery should be simple and impactful.

  • Interactive Class: Encouraging the students to initiate participation during lessons and enroll in other school activities.

  • Evaluation: They should assess and evaluate students timely to check their understanding and improvement.

  • Guidance: After understanding their advancement, they should guide them to pursue what's best for them, both academically and socially.

  • Personal Development: Teachers should keep themselves updated with the latest teaching methods to ensure delivering high-standard education.

  • Student Individuality: Teachers should view each student individually. They should collaborate with parents and support workers in providing the right help for students with special educational needs.

  • Development of the Institute: Teachers should participate in staff meetings and support the leadership team in executing the school development plan.
