Homeopathy or Ayurveda: Which is Better?

In a fast-moving world with deadlines, meetings, presentations, submissions, and whatnot, our health has taken a backseat too fast.

Our tendency to get sick has fast-tracked as a result of coping with the speed at which we are moving.

Having adapted to the rapidly growing and fast-moving world, we always look for treatments that give us faster cures, irrespective of side effects!

We fail to realize the the value of ancient methods of cure like Ayurveda and Homeopathy- The methods used for generations! Lets read further to know these beautiful methods of healing in detail.

Introduction to Ayurveda and Homeopathy!

We keep hearing about Ayurveda and Homeopathy. But do we really know what these are? Lets find out the details about these 2 ancient types of medicines!

The 2 methods of prevention and cure have been pursued in India for many years.

Every year, students get admitted into Ayurveda or Homeopathy colleges as they look forward to getting trained and gain the required skills to start their practice.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda originated in India more than 5,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda in Sanskrit means "The Science of Life".

A towering method of preventing diseases during ancient times, Ayurveda preaches the treatment by maintaining a balance between the mind, body, and consciousness.

Tracing its roots back to the Vedic period, Ayurveda indulges in exploring methods of prevention and cure by using materials available around us, i.e., Nature.

By combining elements of nature and finding a balance between the various aspects of our body, the field has devised treatment methods for all kinds of diseases.

Ayurveda aims at maintaining a balance between the 3 principle energies of the body. These 3 principal energies are:

  • Vata: Energy of Movement
  • Pitta: Energy of Digestion or Metabolism
  • Kapha: Energy of Lubrication and Structure
What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy was created in 1896 by Samuel Hahnemann, a renowned German doctor.

It is known as a medical system that believes the "body can cure itself". The treatment is based on the methods of using tiny amounts of natural substances which are believed to stimulate the healing process.

The underlying concept of homeopathy's technique of treating diseases is that "like cures like". It means certain substances can cause certain symptoms that can be adverse to an illness.

Hence, the patient can be treated with a small dose of the same substance that causes those symptoms. This process shall help the body to trigger their natural defences; hence, making the body more immune and resistant to diseases.

The natural ingredients that are used in homeopathy are diluted by homeopathy doctors using water or alcohol. This process is also known as "potentization".

They shall tailor the treatment according to the symptoms of a patient by administering a dose that is aligned with those particular symptoms.

Benefits of Ayurveda and Homeopathy:

Ayurveda has been practised in India for ages and homeopathy was introduced in India in the 19th century.

Both have cured millions of people with their risk-free treatment methods, not only in India but also abroad.

Their success numbers and the number of aspirants are proof of the efficiency of these fields.

Ayurveda and Homeopathy club many benefits that prove to be advantageous in preventing and curing deadly diseases.

Ayurveda Benefits:

Following are the benefits of Ayurveda:

  • Relieving Stress:

Ayurveda is interlinked with yoga, a physical and spiritual practice that originated in India.

Yoga intertwines the process of curing diseases using physical exercises that generate spirituality and helps to increase our concentration.

Using Vedic knowledge of self-consciousness and inner peace, yoga makes a person calm and focus on the bigger things in life.

In addition to yoga, meditation also forms an important part of Ayurveda that helps the mind to focus on channelizing one's thought process. These methods also help in curing insomnia, a major cause of stress.

  • Helping in Weight Loss:

Ayurvedic treatment consists of processes that promote healthy eating and drinking practise. It helps in weight loss and also allows a person to remain stress-free.

Ayurvedic treatment requires a proper diet plan that needs to be followed. It helps people maintain proper health and contribute to their weight loss process.

  • Hormonal Balance:

Ayurveda treatment helps in maintaining hormonal balance. The treatment method consists of all things that are grown and produced naturally.

They help in detoxifying the body and assist during processes such as the menstrual cycle and pregnancy-related issues.

Ayurvedic medicines help to stabilize the body and ensure a healthy life.

  • Getting Rid of Toxins and Maintaining Healthy Skin:

Ayurveda helps cleanse our mind, body, and soul to get rid of the harmful toxins that plague our growth.

Ayurvedic treatments such as Yoga, Body Massage, and others help to cleanse our bodies. Also, following a healthy diet plan prevents us from consuming food that can be harmful to the body in the long-run.

Ayurveda treatment also helps a person to maintain healthy and radiant skin. The treatment process consists of leafy vegetables and other dry fruits that contain Omega-3 that help maintain soft and glowing skin.

Ayurveda follows the theory of "cure everywhere and anywhere". Diseases can be caused due to any of the prevailing circumstances, but can be cured in the best manner possible using natural remedies.

It is one of the biggest Ayurveda benefits that make people inclined towards this method of treatment.

Homeopathy Benefits:

Following are the benefits of homeopathy:

  • Improves Immunity:

Homeopathy helps to improve the immune system of the body by following the theory of "like cures like".

The medical science system works by stimulating and maintaining the important vital levels of the body.

The medicines used in homeopathy induce the symptoms that shall help cure the particular disease; thus, helping the body build an immunity wall against the disease.

  • Scientific and Natural Medicine:

Homeopathy is a unique medical system that combines the system of both scientific and natural medicine.

Medicines of homeopathy are based on the raw materials that have been extracted from natural sources that are backed by scientific proof. It is widely known as a holistic therapy.

  • Holistic Methodology of Cure and Zero Side-effects:

Homeopathic doctors base their treatment on the detailed history of the patient, such as medical and emotional details.

This helps the doctor to know the root cause of the illness and provide a full-proof treatment process. Patients shall get to explain whatever that has happened with him/ her and seek a dynamic and holistic treatment.

Also, patients can see a holistic treatment with zero side-effects.

  • Preventive Nature of Medicines:

One of the biggest homeopathy benefits is that the medicines help the patients to lead a healthy life.

Homeopathy medicines are also considered safe medicines that prevent any adverse reactions. The preventive nature of the medicines also helps the patient to not contract the diseases soon.

Acting as the perfect prophylactic medicines, homeopathic remedies ensure that patients don't get affected by drug dependency.

Homeopathy follows a holistic treatment model that ensures that patients lead a healthy life using treatment methods backed by scientific and natural methodology.

Following the theory of "like cures like", it increases a patient's resilience and makes them better at fighting diseases.

Is Homepathy or Ayurveda Necessary?

The BIG QUESTION is how sustainable or good are these modern and faster methods of cure in the current lifestyle?

The modern medicine give you short-term gratifications, but not long-term and full-proof results. This is where the need to explore ancient organic treatment arises.

Homeopathy and Ayurveda are 2 ancient methods of treatment that have been a part of medical science for a long time.

These methods of treatment want you to be patient with them, but you can expect a rather long-lasting cure that is devoid of side-effects.

Interestingly, the 2 methods are seen as alternative treatment methods when it comes to ancient and natural techniques of cure.

Now, Homeopathy or Ayurveda: which is better?

Difference Between Ayurveda and Homeopathy:

Ayurveda and Homeopathy belong to the same school of treatment, but get trained under different masters for fighting against diseases.

They aim at treating diseases using natural resources but with different emphasis and ideologies.

Apart from emphasis and ideology, other factors differentiate between Ayurveda and Homeopathy.

The following table showcases the difference between Ayurveda and Homeopathy:

Ayurveda
Homeopathy

Based on the concept of curing the disease by administering substances that cause the same symptoms and build immunity to cure the illness.
The body has to maintain a balance between the Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Different types of internal and external activities in the human body lead to imbalances and diseases.
Medicines are made using vegetable drugs and animal products like milk, bones, and gallstones. Also, minerals such as Sulphur, Arsenic, and others are also used.
Medicines are made using substances derived from plants and animals. Synthetic materials and other mineral substances are also used.
Raw materials are mixed to prepare a compound.
Raw materials are diluted using water or alcohol.
Methods such as Meditation, Yoga, and Massage complement the treatment process.
No other processes are used during the treatment.

Homeopathy or Ayurveda: Which is Better?

Homeopathy and Ayurveda are part of a system of treatment methodologies that are based on the natural form of remedies.

Though they differentiate on many other factors, their main focus is to imbibe a technique that ensures full-proof remedies that help a person live a long and healthy life.

Deciding on which of the 2 medical systems is better, can be a subjective affair. This is because of personal preferences, body-types, and availability.

Both Homeopathy and Ayurveda are followed in India rigorously with the country housing some of the best colleges for both fields.

Every year, many aspirants answer the various medical entrance examinations to enrol themselves in these courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

While homeopathy is a treatment method that is well-known across the world, Ayurveda is limited to the Indian subcontinent.

Nevertheless, Ayurveda is fast picking-up around the world as it's attracting people due to its natural treatment methods that are backed by yoga, meditation, and other processes.

Homeopathy and Ayurveda provide a robust structure, wherein diseases can be cured as well as prevented.

Selecting between the 2 schools of thought and tagging anyone as better should be based on the points that differentiate them and their respective drawbacks.

Ailments and diseases are best treated, if patients are administered doses and treatment methods that are backed by research and inflict zero harm to the body.

For a patient, it comes down to how well his/ her body will react to the medical systems and how long they can be patient with the respective medical systems.
