BAMS Admission Process

The BAMS admission process in India consists of two phases.

Phase 1
Entrance Examination

Aspirants who wish to pursue Ayurvedic courses in Bangalore or anywhere else in the country must first clear a national-level entrance exam known as the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG) as part of the BAMS admission qualifications. Candidates must have completed their 10+2/ 2nd PU/ equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 40-50% (based on the category of students) to apply for the exam.

Phase 2
Counselling Process

Candidates who have cleared the entrance exam must later participate in the BAMS counselling process. This seat allocation process will be held at both the All-India level and the state level. The All-India counselling process is conducted by the AYUSH Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) for admission to Ayurvedic colleges across the country, while the state counselling process will be conducted by the respective state authority for admission to Ayurvedic colleges in the particular state. Admissions to BAMS colleges in Karnataka through the state counselling process is managed and conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).

After securing a seat, candidates will have to report at the allotted college and submit the documents listed below to complete the BAMS admission process.

BAMS is a 5.5-year undergraduate program with 4.5 years of academic studies followed by a 1-year mandatory internship.

The BAMS eligibility criteria are as follows: Candidates must have completed their 10+2/ 2nd PU/ equivalent with English as one of the subjects and must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 40-50% (Based on category of candidate) in Physics, Chemistry & Biology. Candidates must also clear the NEET-UG entrance exam.

The BAMS admission process primarily requires candidates to clear the national-level entrance examination (NEET-UG), followed by participating in the counselling process. However, the BAMS counselling process is held in two formats. The All-India counselling, which is conducted for admission to top BAMS colleges across India and the state counselling, conducted for admission to the top ayurvedic colleges in the respective state.

The BAMS course fees at Ayurvedic colleges in Karnataka will vary based on the type of seat a candidate is eligible for. Candidates who secure a seat through the government quota will have to pay the BAMS ayurvedic course fees that is set by the central/ or state authorities. On the other hand, candidates who are eligible for management seats are required to pay the BAMS direct admission fee, which is usually set by the respective institutes.
