The Republic of Yemen, commonly known as Yemen, is a country located in Western Asia, and lies at the tip of Arabian Peninsula. It is considered to be one of the oldest civilizations on Earth. Its capital is Sana'a. The official language spoken in Arabic.

According to legend, the Biblical Queen of Sheba, consort of King Solomon, was Yemeni. Yemen has been colonized at various times by other Arabs, Ethiopians, Persians, Ottoman Turks, and most recently, the British.

Through 1989, North and South Yemen were two separate nations but today, however, they are united into the Republic of Yemen.

The system of Education in Yemen has Gender biasness which proves a major drawback in the growth of the country. Nevertheless, Education in Yemen improved during the 1970's. A study revealed that the curriculum which is followed by the sector of Education in Yemen rely on routine memorizations and old-fashioned traditions. Not much importance is given to Technical Education, Modern Science Disciplines and outdated techniques of teaching have given the education sector a major slump. There are no many school or college buildings. The administrative capacity is weak, insufficient funds, absence of training programs, in addition to the large deficit in teaching materials for science, mathematics, and English. A report says that sports and art activities are in large absent.

Children from country side migrate to the cities in hope of better opportunities but end up involving themselves in child labour most of the times for survival. Lack of specialized personnel in the field of educational and curriculum planning is also found but again as the trends change, education system has seen considerable changes and improvements.
