As the name suggests, Maharashtra means the 'The Great State' or 'Great Nation'. It is considered as one of the largest states in India, both in terms of area as well as population. The state is surrounded by the Arabian Sea in the west, Gujarat in the north-west, Madhya Pradesh in the north, Andhra Pradesh in the south-east, and Karnataka and Goa in the south. Mumbai as the capital city of Maharashtra serves as a melting pot of diverse culture. The city is also termed as the Gateway of India and considered as one of the most vivacious commercial and cultural centers of India. The major language spoken is Marathi but Hindi and English are also widely known to people. Considered as one of the major industrial states, various minerals like coal, manganese, iron ore, limestone, bauxite, silica, common salt etc. are found in rich quantity. Even the cotton industry is the largest and the oldest in the state.

Maharashtra experiences a tropical monsoon climate. Variation in temperature ranges from 16o to 35o C. Monsoons accounts for maximum rainfall of about 80%.

Transport network is very strong though out the state. It is well connected to all major cities of India through roads, Air and railways.

Education system in Maharashtra is well crafted and organized and runs in a flawless direction. The state is a store house of opportunities in education sector. The state is known for some of its exceptional, peerless and world class institutes for best education.
