The second largest state by area and the sixth largest in terms of population, Madhya Pradesh abbreviated as MP, is called the "heart of India" due to its geographical location to the centre of India. Its capital is Bhopal. It is bordered by states of Uttar Pradesh to the northeast, Chhattisgarh to the southeast, Maharashtra to the south, Gujarat to the west, and Rajasthan to the northwest. It is home to about 40 percent of India's tribal population. Hindi is the most widely spoken.

A rich cultural heritage, large plateaus, mighty mountains, eye gazing monuments the mystical rivers and the dense forests gives this state its own unique charm. The state experiences Summers are hot with average annual rainfall and winters are considerably cold.

Agriculture is the basis of Madhya Pradesh's economy. The state is also rich in minerals, though these resources have not yet been fully exploited.

Madhya Pradesh is known for its rich cultural history. Artistic monuments and temples are home to this place. People from all over the country come to visit here for the famous Sanchi for the Stupas which contain the relics of the Buddha, Jabalpur for its marble rocks, Dhuaandhaar falls and Kanha National Park, White Tigers in Bandhavgarh near Rewa, Panchmarhi for the spectacular hills, Ujjain for Kumbh Mela and Khajuraho for its marvelous artifacts and temples.

The education system is stable and well organized in the state. Madhya Pradesh has been one of the oldest centres of learning in the country. According to census reports, Madhya Pradesh has recorded a literacy rate of 64.11% which is very close to the country's literacy rate. Hindi is the preferred medium of instruction in the government schools and colleges but English language is used in private ones. There is a wide popularity of schools and colleges worldwide.

The strong infrastructure facilities along with modern technologies make the education system a smart one. Colleges are inclining towards IT related studies as this has inv=creasingly become the need of the hour. Improper administration and poor infrastructural facilities have resulted in the slump. Women's education has been ignored which has to be reinforced with full force.

Unemployment has become the greatest challenge and should be addressed immediately. Right education is the key to it. Compulsory primary education to children, access to higher education in medical and technical and discouraging commercialization of higher education should be focused on immediate grounds.
