The people of Haryana are still conventional and conservative in their thoughts and continue to follow old practices as their routine and custom. Festivals are celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional flavour. The economic condition of the state is considerably stable as almost 80% of the population is directly or indirectly engaged in agriculture. Also, animal husbandry has been considered as an integral part of agriculture.

Primary education in Haryana has seen tremendous improvement in terms of enrollments in the schools. Government has extended its support in improving the education scenario of the state. Making Primary Education free and compulsory proving free textbooks, uniforms as well as bicycles gives lot of encouragement to the students as well as the parents to enroll more. Several educational institutes have been established in the state as a result of which there was a considerable increase in the literacy rate of the state. Where the urban areas enjoy the benefits of proper and developed education system, the rural areas still remain underdeveloped. Haryana's main concern is to challenge the problem of illiteracy among its female population.

Government has to take immediate steps to improve the standard of teachers. The government has soon decided to introduce an integrated teacher training course. The present government has taken few few initiatives in the direction of improving the education standards of the state such as promotion of the education of girls and schemes for the welfare of the weaker sections but these have so far not been able to have the desired effects due to their rigid implementation and non-involvement of institutions of decentralized rural governance.

Widespread unemployment among the educated rural youth is another factor why young opt out of the place in look of better opportunities. The youth finds it difficult to compete with their urban counterparts due to their poor educational background resulting from the poor quality of teaching in the rural schools. They also feel the lack of the resources for getting higher education and technical/professional education in private institutions. Vocational courses should also be imparted as it is the need of the hour. Serious efforts should be taken for making higher and technical education affordable so that they are able to enter the modern professions.
