Chhattisgarh, located in Central India, has been carved out of Madhya Pradesh to become the 26th state of the Indian Union. Uttar Pradesh and Bihar bind the State in north, in the east it is bound by Orissa, in the south by Andhra Pradesh and in the West by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. A large part of the state comes under Vindhyachal range that divides the Indian subcontinent into two.

Chhattisgarh is a state in Central India. The state was formed on November 1, 2000 by partitioning 16 Chhattisgarhi-speaking south eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh

The capital city is Raipur. The major languages spoken are Hindi, English. The state has tropical climate with hot summer and cold winters. The state has immense Mineral and forest resources. It is gifted with huge mineral deposits and forest resources.

Chhattisgarh also has the largest concentration of Schedule Tribes in the country. Its cities, especially Raipur are full of migrants from other parts of the country.

Education system in Chhattisgarh has shown considerable improvements in the last few years knowing that it is newly formed state. Education is provided in the various schools, colleges, training institutes and universities of the state. In all the major cities of the state there are a large number of educational institutes of repute. There are many other reputed educational institutes in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The facilities for education in Chhattisgarh are increasing gradually with the efforts of the government. Raipur is the main centre of educational activities. Students from neighbouring states also come here for attending higher education.

Students after completion of their +2 (class XII) prepare themselves for higher study. They also opt for professional degrees like engineering, management and medical. The state is stepping forth with focused growth on education particularly at the primary and secondary levels.

Special importance is given to the education of women and students belonging to the underprivileged section of the society. The capital city Raipur is the main centre of higher education in Chhattisgarh. It houses some of the most important departments of education in the state.

By the law, free and compulsory education is given to children until they turn 14 years of age.
